
The Detachment of Iowa regrets to announce the death of Past Detachment Commander Dale Hidlebaugh on April 29, 2026.
Dale G. Hidlebaugh, 73, of Muscatine, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine, with Pr. Susan Bantz officiating. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Dale Gene Hidlebaugh was born August 14, 1952, in Muscatine, the son of Hubert and Ruth (Griffin) Hidlebaugh. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1971.
He was a proud charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #27, where he was Past Squadron Commander and Past Detachment Commander 1996-1998.
Dale is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dennise and Scott Peck of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; three grandchildren, Aubri (Levi) Motley, Autumn Potter, and Austin Potter; great-grandchildren, Piper, Dusty, and Eliza, Ryder and Roper; and his cousins, Dottie (Gerom) Jones of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kay (Ron) Horton of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruth Hidlebaugh, and a great-granddaughter, Josie Motley.
