Fellow Legionnaires,
I want to take a moment to speak with you about the strength and future of our Post—our membership.
As of today, we are 741 members behind where we were at this same point last year. That number is not shared to discourage anyone, but to be honest about where we stand and to remind us how important each member truly is to the life of this organization.
Every membership card represents more than a name on a roster. It represents a veteran who believes in service, in camaraderie, and in the mission of The American Legion—supporting veterans, their families, and our communities. When our membership declines, our voice weakens. When it grows, our ability to serve grows with it.
I want to remind everyone that membership renewals are due by January 1. Renewing on time helps ensure that our Post, our Department, and our National organization can continue their work without interruption. It also shows our continued commitment to the values that brought us together in the first place.
If you have already renewed, thank you for your dedication. If you have not yet renewed, I ask you to do so as soon as possible. And I challenge each of you to reach out to a fellow Legionnaire—check on them, invite them back, and remind them that they are missed and that they matter.
Together, we can close this gap. Together, we can ensure that The American Legion remains strong, relevant, and ready to serve—today and for generations to come.
Thank you for your service, your loyalty, and your continued commitment to The American Legion.
Darrin Alderson
Department Commander
