Virtual Meeting Training Offered
The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted many events including The American Legion National Convention, many Department conventions and our District and Post meetings. Here in Iowa we have begun holding our Department Executive Committee and some of our Department Commission and committee meetings as virtual meetings using Zoom. This allows our officers to remain socially distanced but yet participate in the meeting almost as if they were present in the same room.
Our Districts and Posts can use that same Zoom package to conduct meetings. Some already are. Others are not familiar with how to set up and run a Zoom meeting. The Department is providing some basic understanding and familiarization of Zoom to help those districts and posts get over that hurdle. PNC Dave Rehbein is hosting a set of three meetings for that purpose.
The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on April 21, 22 and 23. In order to control the size of the group attending each meeting, the April 21 meeting is for Legionnaires from Districts 1, 2 and 3, April 22 for Districts 4, 5 and 6 and April 23 for districts 7, 8 and 9. If your schedule will not allow you to attend on the night designated for your district, you can check in on one of the other nights.
It works best if you have a computer with a camera, speakers and a microphone. If you computer does not have a camera or microphone, you can still participate but you will need to use your phone to speak at the meeting.
Send your email address to PNC Rehbein here and indicate which night you want to attend. You will be sent instructions on participating in that meeting. You will create a free Zoom account and will need your email address and a password that you can set. .Please request instructions for your preferred night as soon as you can.
We will cover the basics of participating in a Zoom meeting during that session as well as the basics of setting up and scheduling your own Zoom meeting. We hope you can attend.
